OK, switching over to a new blog wasn’t as easy as I hoped! But I’ve got it mostly back the way it was before. The biggest challenge was the random picture block on the right … it was a huge pain to get right! I know, I could have just used the normal flickr thing like before … but the pictures were small and it was a bit distracting. This new picture block is actually part of a larger photo album plugin that I have installed. I don’t know about you … but I’m excited!  This new WordPress blog is cool as shit! I’m going to have a lot of fun playing with this over the next little while.  I’ve chosen this template look for now … but I’ll probably find a cooler one in a while.  Had to put a temporary one in though … the default one was very very bland and painful to the eyes.  lol

Now I jsut have to figure out how to add to the layout (like that little photo applet i had before) … and have it remain there when I change the template.  Must be a way to do that.  Off to google and wikipedia!

I’m starting to get frustrated by the limitations of blogger … and there’s a lot more I’d like to do with my blog than it will allow. So I’ve decided to move the blog to it’s own web host so I can have a little extra flexability and keep it fresh and new.

The new address will be http://www.peacekeeper.biz/blog/

In the past I’ve only used this site to host files for my video game hobby … but I have it and pay for the domain, so I might as well use it for more than just that! I should be able to put in some cool stuff for the blog - pictures/albums, seperate pages for different topics, etc etc.

Once it’s all setup, I’ll delete the old content here and just leave the forwarding address. Probably take a week or so before the move is complete.

Last night I took at look at my work-related webpage and realized I hadn’t updated it since November 2004, so decided to fix it up a bit. Updated my resume there and put a little note saying that I was currently looking for a job. I also decided that it was time for that horrible picture of me to go! So this morning I got all spruced up in shirt and tie and had my sister take some new photographs of me. A couple actually turned out ok, so I added them to the site. Some of them were really funny also … who knew that I made so many silly expressions and crazy looks. lol.

I decided to add one of those fancy flash-enabled-picture-viewing-gizmos to the sidebar of the site (it’s located just under the archive list on the right). Added a random assortment of images to it … whatever I could find on my computer in a hurry. Kinda neat, eh? Clicking on an image loads a larger image on Flickr.com (a Yahoo! company now). I’ll eventually switch this over to show some holiday pictures … once I actually have some to show!

Also, does anyone actually use my Digg.com links? I find some pretty interesting stuff and link it here for you all to follow. Go make an account on digg.com already - if you don’t, you’ll be left behind in this new wave of communication and social bookmarking that is sweeping the internet. Read More »

I added a listing of the top stories I ‘dugg’ on the social bookmarking and technology site, digg.com. You should be able to see them on the lower right panel of the blog. It doesn’t always show up, presumably because of the site’s popularity. So I put a link to my profile there also.

If you haven’t checked out digg.com yet, please do. It’s one of the hottest sites on the web right now. Find an article you like, and post it there to share with everyone. Popular posts make it to the front page. Some cool stuff there … but the site is in need of better content to suppress the junk that some people post. So please contribute! You can also search for a topic you are interested in and digg those stories. Lots of cool stuff gets posted, and then buried because no one clicks on it. It’s a shame.

HAHA! I finally figured out how to only show part of my posts on the main page, and have full post in the permalink. And thank goodness … my posts are so ridiculously large that scroll through the main page was becoming a real problem. Well hopefully it looks a bit better now.
