Trying to figure out what i want to do with the rest of my life. It’s tough. I know it’s like that for everyone, but I’m feeling really challenged by it. For one thing, I know that finding something to do in the future means i have to give up most, if not all of what I’ve worked on in the past - career wise at least. Also, the fact of actually ATTAINING that job/activity is really difficult because I’m so unaccustomed to doing anything outside of the academic world.

Really bored here of late. I have a few things to do … taxes, resume fixing, even some new video games to play. Don’t even feel like looking at them though. Need to get out and do something … was planning on a movie this weekend, but there’s nothing worthy of watching at the theatres as far as I can tell. What’s a out of University, single guy to do in the big city without being able to drink, eat tasty food, or shop? lol. Not much, that’s what! I should give my sole remaining buddy in the area a call and do something, but I have the feeling I would just bum him out too. :/ Read More »

Feeling a bit better mentally today and yesterday. No real reason .. just sick of being depressed. lol. Been looking for some part-time data-entry type jobs … seems to be a few out there, some of which don’t require strong french skills. Pay is horrid, but better than just financial assistance alone. So I’m going to retool a resume that is better suited to that kind of job and then send it out to a few places. Goal is to find something that is half days, or just a couple says a week. Enough to supplement my income but not tire me out totally. If it goes ok, I’ll start looking for a full time job that is closer to my skill set. Read More »

Last night I took at look at my work-related webpage and realized I hadn’t updated it since November 2004, so decided to fix it up a bit. Updated my resume there and put a little note saying that I was currently looking for a job. I also decided that it was time for that horrible picture of me to go! So this morning I got all spruced up in shirt and tie and had my sister take some new photographs of me. A couple actually turned out ok, so I added them to the site. Some of them were really funny also … who knew that I made so many silly expressions and crazy looks. lol.

Ok, I’m going to make this short and sweet since this is the third time I’ve tried to update my blog since last post. First time I was on dialup and lost connection … then frustrated to the point of powering down computer because I couldn’t connect. Second time I lost power. Really sucked too because those were nice long posts with good stuff in them. oh well …

So ya, I moved. My stuff went in storage in April while I lived at my sisters little farm house. After an exhaustive roommate search and because of a huge delay in getting unemployment money rolling in … I decided to wait a bit longer and find a large place to rent with my sister and kids. OK. That trailer hitch thing was a stupid idea. :/ I made an appointment to get the hitch installed. Then a few days later I headed out to see these trailers. Well, let me tell you this, someone could get rich my running around selling tape measures to all the local UHaul places. The trailer with is supposedly 8feet*5feet*6feet is more like 6*4*5 … basically not big enough to hold anything except boxes. I had envisioned the trailer of being able to hold my futon, bed, and major electronics. No freaking way!

So back to the movers. *sigh* I guess I didn’t need that last monthly paycheck … not like I’m going to be unemployed indefinitely or anything right? (yes, sarcasm!). Read More »

Boy that last post was a whopper. lol. And I see my sister commented. Great! (eyes rolling around the back of my head).

Well, the moving panic has started to set in. A little over a month to go. I’ve called about a dozen moving companies … and it just costs too much (2000-3500$). This is a real problem because 1) I have some good stuff that I don’t want to get rid of, and 2) I need help to move! A major drawback of not having many friends in town is that you have no one to help you move. I have a few buddies from work, but only one of them is the type of person who you could ask to help out on this … and he just had knee surgery.
